This weekend...

I plan to:
Have the 1st family dinner in a long time with the WHOLE family (yay brother!)
Visit Ryan's family at his grandparents
Go to Old St. Charles and get all Christmasy with good friends

And tonight:
Make Christmas cookies
Watch the Nutcracker (so sad that I can't watch our old VHS taped one)
Do wedding crafts!

What about you?

P.S. Feeling slightly better since the last depressing post!

Perfect with a capital P

I feel like I usually try to keep things pretty light hearted and happy here but as this last year of college is halfway over I feel the weight of the world on my shoulders more than ever before. All the things that I've cared about and invested time in over the past few years (other than Ryan, friendships and Jesus of course) are seeming like a pointless waste of time. See, I've always felt this huge pressure to really BE somebody. Being voted "Most Likely to Succeed" in high school really pierces you in the side in college. Everyone thought I had potential. I thought I had potential. I'm so ticked off at my school for not teaching me the things I wish I knew, and not guiding me toward a career path. But really who's fault is it other than mine? Never in my life have I felt less skilled, less important, and less focused.

I know you think this is the rant of any college student but this really feels like the darkest, scariest place I've ever been. I'm embarrassed to say I'm graduating with a degree in Advertising because I DON'T KNOW A SINGLE THING about Advertising. I have nothing to show for myself, no confidence in my future, and no hope of what it's going to turn into. And so I leave you with this thought...School really is a messed up system. Straight A students are never the ones that succeed. I may have passed every class with flying colors but I officially failed college.

New couch!
Well here it is. Soak it up. The beauty of our first mutual furniture purchase. The Corona sofa from Macys of all places. I love it. LOVE. I don't get to use it for 6 months but no matter! I can picture all of the exciting things that will happen on this couch. Ryan's decided to* make a movie of the couch's life with us as newlyweds watching a movie, our future huskys snuggling with us, our future kids opening christmas presents. It'll be like a part of the family.
Oh and we got it in the dark color like the chair you see. Cafe Noir. Swanky.

*"decided to" could also be replaced with "thought about briefly" or "probably won't"

Cinderella Shoes
It's probably no secret that I'm kind of obsessed with gold. So..naturally I want gold "Ever After" shoes for the wedding. Yes, I know I'm channeling my inner princess. Any opinions about these options (or where I can find exact replicas of those shoes)?

I'm kidding about the exact replicas...I think.

Visual Cookbook

This is just further proof that everything in life can be made more visually appealing. This cookbook from Ikea (..of course) is all Swedish recipies as of now but if they release an American one I am all over that.

Vintage Botanical Drawings

So inspired by botanical drawings. These were done in the 17th century and changed the face of classifying plant life. I just love the way science needs art and the other way around.

Oh and happy birthday to me! The fiance is taking me out tonight for a surprise!

Totes
I feel like this tote is a perfect representation of my style right now. Can't you see me carrying my books and lunch around campus with this tote? It's a perfect mix of masculine and feminine. Sighh....too bad its $125.

Recently
Kind of been getting on a design kick recently. Just made this for my big bro to paste around NYC. Man I'm famous. Ha. Still trying to figure out what to do with my life. I love Love LOVE being creative, but its so personal and easy to feel unconfident in yourself. Been praying extra hard for God's guidance in my career choice and confidence in myself!

Inspired by: Florals
Found both of these on my desktop today. (Not sure the sources...please let me know if you know!) I'm fairly sure both of these were made in paper-How cool is that? I'd love to do something like that for a living.
But anyway...these florals got me thinking about my wedding dress! I so wish I could put it on here for you to see but someone (errr....Ryan) is probably going to see this post. I've 98% decided on one. If I think about it every day that's a good sign right?

Haybales
Photobucket
(eric and cathleen's wedding via DesignSponge)
Okay bloggers....be real honest with me here. I LOVE the idea of having everyone sit on haybales for the ceremony and I think not only would it tie in nicely, but we'd save money on rentals.
What do YOU think?
Do you think its rude (especially to the old people) to make them sit through the ceremony without a back on their seat? Could I do a couple of chairs and the rest haybales? I'm torn!

A Day at the Office
Photobucket
So I work in an office...you don't even have to know what I do there because it's irrelevant. But I will tell you this.....its just me and my boss there. That's it. And sometimes her 9 year old son. More on that later.

I've worked here for awhile. And me and my boss are good. Maybe even friends? Maybe. Anyway the other day I was a working away and drinking my morning coffee and whatta ya know I need to take a trip to the 'loo. No big deal.

15 minutes later....Man I have to pee again. That coffee was intense. Should I go now? I mean..I just went. That'd be kind of weird if I went again. I'll just hold it.

10 minutes later...Okay this is real bothersome..I'm just gonna slip back there real quietly and maybe she won't notice that I'm going again.

Photobucket
1 hour later....Do I seriously have to pee AGAIN? I'm just going to drink this soda and try to not think about it. Gosh going pee so many times makes me look like a bad employee. What if she cut my hours because of this? I'm totally holding it.

30 minutes later....I'm just going to play on Facebook to distract me from having to pee so I don't look like a bad employee. ...wait.

5 minutes later...The blame game starts in my head. Gosh dang you coffee...gosh dang you DP. I thought we were friends! Curse you bladder! I'll never be able to work anywhere because no one will tollerate my TBS (tiny bladder syndrome)!

1 hour later...(in serious pain at this point) My boss asks me to get something out of the back room. YES!!! I can just quick slip into the bathroom and then get what she needs. SHE'LL NEVER KNOW. Muah ha ha. I'm the sneakiest employee ever.

In the back room...9 year old son is watching Disney channel. Tra la la...grabbing office supplies. Oh Suite Life on Deck is on? Oh my goodness I love this one..

Wait. Focus. I'M AN ADULT.

Invitations in the nation
Photobucket
Photobucket
Photobucket
Okay I wanted to start this whole blogging thing off again with a bang but...these invitations are pretty bang-worthy right? First off...they were hand sewn before scanned and printed. Secondly...the girl who made them got married last year, started a little invitation shop, and grew in popularity like that. I want to be her. Check out Rifle Paper Co. Oh and.... our save the dates (STDs) were partially inspired by these. ;) More on that soon.

See You in August!
Photobucket
(image via Max Wanger)
So I'm having a hard time blogging...obvs. It's not that I'm not inspired, I just have too much on my plate right now! So instead of feeling guilty about not blogging I'm going to take 2 months off worry-free. Until then, here's a little sneak peak of what I'm thinking for my bridesmaids. Colorful!

Well lovelies....I'm getting married!
Photobucket
It's true! I'm engaged to the man I've been dating (on & off a bit) for well... 7 years. Yes we've been waiting for this day for quite a while. I seriously CAN NOT WAIT to call him hubby and just do life together.

This is my beautiful and unique Sarah Perlis ring. Ryan talked to Sarah herself and created this unique ring that suits us so well. No we do not have a date yet and no I haven't already picked out my wedding dress (someone honestly asked me that 4 hours after it happened). I'm sure this blog will get a little wedding heavy this year so bear with me!

I'm a real biking gal
Photobucket
Ladies and Gents, I am officially a bike owner. My bike is a dark brown with old fashioned handlebars and is a breeze to ride-----on completely flat roads. Yes its a bit of a hassle and I may or may not have had a complete wipeout when trying to turn a corner. I'm pretty much a baby biker but I will prevail!

I miss you buddy

I don't have a bits of my week for you this week. I'm sure I had plenty of good photo opportunities but my mind was too occupied with this little dude. I had a great 7 years with you Charlie.

Painter Lily Stockman blogs about her studio, food, and life in the desert in Cali. I've never been a desert type girl(even watching dusty movies makes me want to put on lotion) but her blog makes it seem so relaxing and adventurous at the same time. She has an amazing sense of humor and beautiful pictures that don't scream "I'm trying to be a super artsy photographer!" Ya know what I'm saying? Check it.

Daydreaming...

I've been doing a lot of daydreaming lately. Maybe I have a little spring fever. But daydreams tend to look a lot like Chrissie White's photography. I'm pretty sure she's around age 16. Crazy.

So maybe I can make up for the fact that I haven't been in the blogosophere because I've been trying to get good pictures for Bits of My Week. This week included pretty coffee and a lovely coffeehouse, two dinners at the Hill, puppy losing his first tooth, and a crazy-wack art project.
